Ms. Short, a Michigan native, graduated cum laude in 1971 from Michigan
State University with a degree in English Education and French. She received
her law degree from the Marshall Wythe School of Law at the College of William
and Mary in 1981. A member of the New York State Bar since 1982, she was
admitted to practice in Georgia in 2001.
Ms. Short concentrates her practice in commercial real estate transactions
with an emphasis on development, acquisition and disposition of real estate
assets, leasing, secured lending and finance law. She is an agent for
Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company. She was formerly Corporate Counsel
to Marine Midland Bank, N.A. (now HSBC Bank) and Ticor Title Insurance Company.
While a resident of Buffalo, New York, she participated in community
organizations seeking to revitalize neighborhoods and provide first time home
ownership opportunities to low income families. She graduated from the Leadership
Buffalo program in 1994. Ms. Short is an active member of Commercial Real Estate
Women (CREW) Atlanta, serving as the 2008 Chair of the Program Committee, and is
a 2006 graduate of its leadership program.
Ms. Short is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Georgia Bar
Association, the Atlanta Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the
Georgia Association of Women Lawyers. Ms. Short has lectured on title examination
and title insurance.
