Mr. Kaplan graduated cum laude from Bucknell University in 1986
with a major in business management and a minor in international relations.
He received his law degree from Duke University where he graduated with honors in 1989.
Mr. Kaplan represents clients in complex real estate transactions, including the
acquisition, financing, development, leasing and disposition of office, industrial,
retail, multifamily, and mixed use properties. He represents both landlords and tenants
in negotiating leases, including office, warehouse, big box, outparcel and space leases,
and build to suit leases. Mr. Kaplan also has experience in the negotiation, servicing,
modification and restructuring of securitized and non-securitized loans.
Mr. Kaplan previously was in-house counsel at a large international retailer where he
handled the acquisition, development and leasing of sites for stores and distribution
centers throughout the United States. He also spent time as a commercial real estate
developer where he managed all aspects of shopping center development.
