Betsy Hodges graduated magna cum laude from Georgia State University in 1981. She attended the University of Georgia School of Law, graduating cum laude in 1984.

Ms. Hodges practices primarily in the areas of commercial and construction dispute resolution, legal ethics and defense of State Bar disciplinary matters.

Ms. Hodges' litigation and dispute resolution practice focuses on the defense and prosecution of construction and commercial litigation cases in state and federal court and through mediations and arbitrations. She has developed a thorough knowledge of the Georgia mechanics' and materialmen's lien statutes, having prepared and recorded numerous claims of lien and filed suits to perfect the liens. She has also represented a wide range of clients in construction and commercial disputes – from large and small corporations and businesses to public entities, including school districts and cities.

Ms. Hodges began her career working at the State Bar of Georgia's Office of General Counsel and gained unique experience in the areas of legal ethics and disciplinary matters. She also served as President of the State Bar of Georgia's Younger Lawyers Section (n/k/a the Younger Lawyers Division), which gave her a seat on the Executive Committee of the State Bar of Georgia and on both the Investigative and Review Panels of the State Disciplinary Board. Ms. Hodges' interest in attorney ethics and professionalism has continued and she represents lawyers charged with disciplinary complaints. She is a member of the State Bar's Professional Liability Section, and she has lectured frequently on lawyer ethics and disciplinary matters.

Ms. Hodges has been very active in the State Bar of Georgia and the Atlanta Bar Association, not only as a member but also in several leadership roles. She is a founding Co-Chair of the Georgia High School Mock Trial Committee, and has seen the number of Georgia high school mock trial teams grow from 4 in 1987 to 145 in 2011. In 2009, she received an Award of Achievement for Outstanding Service to the Profession from the Younger Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia for her work on the 2009 National High School Mock Trial Competition Fundraising Committee.
